A bit about ME ...

Since graduating with a Masters degree in 2010 I have been working as a Web Developer for a leading e-learning company, creating bespoke e-learning for a number of blue chip companies. In addition to the technical element, the role gave me the opportunity to manage and train a number of colleagues, interact with clients, as well as manage projects. Since leaving the role, I have been fortunate enough to travel the world for over 6 months - and now I can't wait to get back into a challenging and exciting new job!

I pride myself on my being a hard-working individual with a can-do attitude, whose attention to detail means I strive to consistently produce work of the highest possible quality. I take particular enjoyment in working with other departments to create the most flexible and user friendly solutions, challenging the stereotypical and overused norms through my enthusiasm for new creative solutions. Team involvement and open communication with other departments is, I believe, essential to effective web development and something I actively contribute to in order to create better applications that fulfill client needs, from both an aesthetic and functionality perspective. My diverse range of skills means I also have the know-how to work just as effectively as an individual, creating quality solutions and utilising my network of highly skilled and trusted freelancers when needed.

Both my great interpersonal skills and my motivated and professional demeanor mean I can work with both clients and colleagues from all walks of life, and provide a number of diverse and transferable skills, applicable to any given role.

Working for BYG Systems Ltd, a leading e-learning supplier, I created and maintained a huge number of bespoke e-learning courses for a wide variety of blue chip organisations, operating both nationally and internationally.

I took particular enjoyment in working in conjunction with other departments to create the most flexible and user friendly solutions, challenging the stereotypical and overused norms through my enthusiasm for new creative solutions. For many of these projects I was appointed as the technical lead, responsible for the entire technical aspect of a project.

Bespoke e-Learning

Another element of my role working for BYG Systems Ltd involved developing a number of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning portals. Both of these types of software house e-learning courses, track the users' progress, and provide reporting for administrators. The portals provided the client with a more bespoke product, offering a higher level of functionality such as course feedback and more comprehensive user admin.

LMS and Portal Development

In addition to my full-time employment, I have developed a number of personal websites for educational and promotional purposes.

Aside from this web development portfolio, a live example can be found at katherinedixon.co.uk, which showcases my photography and filmmaking.

Personal Projects

I consider myself lucky to be part of a select group of web developers with an appreciation and skill for asthetic, user friendly solutions. I have a strong eye for design, and a love of photography and film (katherinedixon.co.uk) - all of which complement and enhance my front end development work; I have more than just coding skills to bring to a project!
